While the weather may not feel very spring like in Spokane activities in our city are picking up. On April 21st an organization I work with, Inland Northwest Baby, will be holding its annual Stuff the Bus Event. For those of you not familiar with Jesse's story and his passion I urge you to take a view minutes and go to the Inland Northwest Baby site then show up at Central Valley High School diapers in hand. He is truly an amazing young man. The fun doesn't stop there as we kick off May with the Bloomsday run. It is hard to believe this will be the 35th year. I am registered and gearing up for Doomsday hill. It has truly become my nemesis. Mr. Vulture here I come. For those of you who have not yet registered there is still time. It is truly an event and one worth the trip.
Spokane will then be rolling in to lilac season complete with the junior and torchlight parades. This year I am excited to say our youngest daughter will be marching in the junior lilac parade with the award winning Mountain View Lancers. I will be easy to pick out in the crowd. Just a hint, I will be the mom marching along side urging her to smile so that I can get a picture. Yep, all you parents out there I challenge you to join me. It is truly our duty to train the next generation. After all isn't that what our parents did for us :) For my family, Grandma Myrle would be proud. The month will close with the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade. I realize I live in Spokane so there may be a slight bias but every year I continue to be moved by this event. I feel honored to be part of the tribute to our many brave women and men in all of our military branches. For those of you thinking about attending I urge you to bring a tissue.
Stay tuned as I am confident there will be a funny story or two about our events in the coming weeks. Not sure if I will be brave enough to post pictures (except maybe our daughter ~ love you honey) but will attempt to create a visual depiction through words. For my husband Scott, Happy Birthday honey I love you!

First Rehearsal
Yesterday I was able to meet the majority of women who will be competing in the Mrs. Washington 2012 pageant along with a former Mrs. Washington, a current Little Miss Washington, and our pageant director with her daughter. This was the first time I was able to meet everyone in person so I openly admit there was a level of uncertainty as I entered the rehearsal venue. That feeling evaporated in about 5 minutes. These women are truly amazing! While all are extremely beautiful that is not their biggest asset. They are smart, articulate, extremely funny, and caring women.
I am looking forward to our fun filled performance in Moses Lake on May 27th for the Spring Festival. Call me crazy but Tina Turner has nothing on us! That is the only sneak peak I will provide to the performance. If you want to see us in action you will need to attend the event. Moses Lake Spring Festival
Thank you to our director Pam Curnel and daughter Melissa for making it a special afternoon. In addition a special thank you to Carla Richards, Mrs. Washington 2010, Jazymn Wentland, Little Miss Washington 2011, and all of the Mrs. Washington 2012 contestants who helped echo Pam's welcome to the Mrs. Washington family. The next seven months are going to be a whirlwind...but in a good way.
Now off to continue my Sunday. Family, friends, a trip to Costco and a hit to the checking account, and finally a BBQ to end this beautiful day.
